I love the open container.
What I love about this rig is that you can keep adding more water as you progress. I find that it takes over a gallon of warm soapy water especially the day after I hit the all you can eat buffet really hard.

Might as well invest in a quality unit....
...which is exactly what this is.

All the parts are of quality construction and built to last. That's the thing - an enema is not something you do once every ten years, or even once every ten months.

Many doctors recommend that they be performed at least once monthly, if not once weekly. Therefore it would be wiser to invest in something of this quality, rather than a cheap, ten dollar, red rubber bag. Sure this kit is four times the cost, but big deal, it'll last 20 times as long at least.

I also have to point out that not only does latex cause reactions in some people but those bags are not exactly conducive to hygiene. First, they cannot be cleaned well on the inside. The inside is dark and usually wet - this promotes bacterial growths while being stored - in fact, I have had one that developed mold on the inside even after I cleaned it and inverted it to dry.

The bags themselves are difficult to see into of course and I would not have noticed this mold growth except for the fact that as I was re-filling it in preparation for a session, the mold particles floated to the top of the bag. This could have been a disaster had I put that mold into my body.

At that point it went right into the trash and I swore off bags for good, which led me to Dr. Ben and this kit.

The stainless steel container can be cleaned and sanitized very easily. Because it is stainless steel it is non-reactive, which means you can safely do coffee enemas (for liver cleansing) as well - without the fear that the acidity of the coffee may cause a chemical reaction from its container. I also like the fact that the other parts are easily replaceable for a reasonable price.

Bottom line: The only reason you would buy an enema kit is for health concerns. The red rubber bag thing is a health concern in and of itself. Since you've probably already sworn off those $1 "value meal burgers", spend the extra money you saved on this kit. It will help you get them out...and safely too.

Best Solution for Home Enema Care You Can Buy!
After using a standard enema bag for years--the standard red rubber hot water bottle combo-style, I decided to go with something easier to sanitize after each use. An alternative medical practitioner highly recommended Healthegoods.com as a good, reliable source for a stainless steel bucket with open top style. Well, I must say...it's wonderful. I like the handle and the overall ease of use and how easy it is to thoroughly sanitize the product after each use. It came quickly after we ordered it. Healthegoods.com is also a great source for health information in general...there's an archive of podcasts, as well as a wealth of information on health in general. Thanks, Dr. Ben!

Very Good
Easy to clean, best use is to use this item when administering to another. Can be a little challenging when self administered since no visual indication of how much fluid is left.

  • PVC or Silicone? at 8/24/11 8:41 PM
    • Hi Dr Ben, which tubing is safer? PVC or Silicone? If I want it to benefit inflammation in "Ascending Colon", will enema helps since it does not reach the deepest ascending colon?

      Thank you. Eric.
    • Hi Eric - Silicone is definitely safer than PVC. PVC is ok to use for those who are using only water enemas or performing enemas infrequently. Silicone enema tubing is easier to clean (you can boil it and oils do not stick to it) and it does not leach any toxins no matter the type of fluid going through or the pH. Enemas can definitely help heal the ascending colon. What I recommend doing is having a bowel movement first and then performing the enema in this manner: 1) Fill the enema bucket with 1 quart of filtered water and a pinch of salt or electrolytes: http://www.healthegoods.com/electrolyte-concentrate-20-fl-ounces-bottle-bodybio.html 2) Take a regular enema and flush out as much as you can. 3) Refill the enema bucket with 2 cups of filtered water, a capful of Electrolyte Concentrate, open and empty a couple capsules of Cal/Mag Butyrate, 1 teaspoon of ProBiota 12 Powder and 2 teaspoons of Intestinal Repair Complex and open and empty a capsule of Curcumin 97. Mix well. You can find these all at HealthE Goods by searching their names. 4) Insert the 2 cups of fluid into your rectum while laying on your left side or on all fours - whatever is most comfortable for you. 5) Once the 2 cups of fluid is in your rectum, do the yoga Shoulder stand. You may feel the 2 cups of fluid reach the transverse colon. 6) Come down and out of the Shoulder stand while bringing your legs and torso down onto your right side. Then lay on your right side for some time - as long as you can. If you can lay on a slight incline so the fluid stays down in the ascending colon, this is ideal. 7) The fluid will be hard to get out as it will be all the way in your ascending colon but that is ok. The point is to get the contents there and allow them to heal the area. 8) Do this daily until you feel very well. Do not exceed 2 weeks of doing this daily. If you want to do longer than two weeks, make sure you take a few days rest between. Avoid Wheat, Dairy and processed foods. Make sure to take ProBiota 12 Powder (1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon) nightly after dinner for one month and then reduce to 1/8th teaspoon after that. Also be sure to take Cal/Mag Butyrate internally as well (3 capsules before breakfast and 3 before bed). In health, Dr Ben

    • How many ounces is the enema bucket? I need it to be 32 oz. for mine
    • Hello - There are 32 ounces in a quart. The enema bucket holds at least 2 quarts. You have a minimum of 64 ounces with the stainless steel enema bucket! Best, Dr Ben

  • safe when pregnant or lactating? at 10/22/11 3:50 PM
    • Is it safe to do coffee enemas when pregnant or lactating?

      Thank you!
    • Hello there - It is not recommended at all to do coffee enemas while pregnant - absolutely not. While lactating and performing the coffee enemas under the instruction and guidance of a physician, I'd say yes. If not, then I'd say no. The issue is if you take a coffee enema and do not properly eliminate the toxic bile you are releasing, then it can get reabsorbed and into your blood stream - which makes its way into your milk. I am well versed in coffee enemas and know how to reduce the reabsorption of bile. If you'd like to schedule a consult, you may do so here: http://www.healthegoods.com/consult.html In health, Dr Ben

  • Are enemas safe after full recovery from diverticulitis attack? at 11/18/11 9:22 AM
    • Two months ago I had my very first diverticulitis attack - up until then I had no idea that I had diverticulosis. No bleeding, fortunately. I was placed on antibiotic for 10 days. I feel fine now. Given that I have diverticulosis that flared up to diverticulitis on one occassion, would an enemas helf prevent a future attack? If so, how often, and should it be a low pressure [e.g. bag or can low] enema? Please give me some guidance on this as to frequency, fluid volume, height etc.

      Thank you!

      Phil
    • Hi Phil - Definitely need to get on a potent probiotic. I recommend you consider ProBiota 12 Powder. Consider taking 1/2 teaspoon after dinner until the bottle is gone. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfus-twelve-species-60-grams-seeking-health.html Then switch to ProBiota 12 capsules and take 1 capsule after dinner on an on-going basis. http://www.healthegoods.com/probiota-12-maximum-support-50-billion-cfus-twelve-species-probiotic-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html Enemas may help prevent a future attack. You need to go back 2 months ago and look at what your diet was like - then take note and try to reduce those foods. I would not use an enema catheter as it could get stuck in the diverticuli. Instead, use only the enema tips. Most commonly diverticuli are found in the lower area of the large intestine. Read this: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/diverticulosis/ I would use normal flow and not perform enemas more than once a week unless directed by your doctor. Have the enema kit no higher than about 18 inches off the floor. Use filtered water with about a teaspoon of sea salt per quart of water. Make sure to heal your constipation if that is an issue. The probiotics are critical. I also highly recommend you consider Cal/Mag Butyrate and take 3 capsules twice daily with meals. Keep it in your freezer as they don't smell that great but they are AMAZINGLY healing for the colon. http://www.healthegoods.com/cal-mag-butyrate-100-capsules-body-bio.html You can also mix some probiotic and butyrate into the enema solution for a faster healing effect. Do not perform enemas when you have diverticulitis - when it is hurting and in the active state. In health, Dr Ben
