Premium Shower Water Filter

Installation and Operation

Unscrew and remove the existing shower head from the shower arm (1/2 in. pipe).
To minimze water drips, wrap the included teflon tape around the shower arm and the filter.
Screw the Premium Shower Filter onto the shower arm and screw the shower head onto the Shower Filter. Hand Tighten Only- overtightening can crack the filter.
The Premium Shower Water Filter is now ready for use. Simply turn on the water as usual.
Whenever the Premium Shower Filter is opened to replace the cartridge, the o-rings there to keep the filter from leaking should be properly seated in their channels, and rubbed with petroluem jelly to keep them supple. Petroleum jelly can also be used on the threads of the housing.

How Does the Premium Shower Water Filter Work?
A patented mixture of zinc and copper called KDF-55, plus crystal Quartz, converts Chlorine into Zinc Chloride. Zinc is considered to be helpful in alleviating dandruff and is used in anti-dandruff shampoos. Unlike carbon, KDF stands up to hot water and is very effective in filtering out Chlorine, odors and dirt particles. KDF possesses strong bacteriostatic character, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, fungus, algae and mildew. The Premium Shower Filter contains 14 oz. of KDF and 2 oz. of crystal Quartz for enhanced performance.

What is the Effect of Chlorine in the Shower?
Chlorine is a toxic gas which attackes living cells. It was used during World War I as a chemical warfare agent. It is used today as a additive to drinking water to kill harmful micro-organisms. While this can be an important health benefit, Chlorine itself is far from beneficial: it attacks organic material, such as the skin and skin oils, which dries out the skin and hair. Because Chlorine vaporizes along with the hot water, it is inhaled into the lungs. It is also absorbed into the skin. According to some experts, 5 times more Chlorine enters the body through the skin during a shower than enters through drinking 8 glasses of chlorinated tap water!

How Long will the Premium Shower Water Filter Last?
On average, the filter will last about one year. Initially, the filter will remove 98% of the Chlorine. Over time, the removal percentage declines until it is at about 87% after one year. Accordingly, we recommend annual cartridge replacement. New Wave Enviro sends a reminder card yearly.

Each cartridge contains 16 ounces of patented, bacteriostatic KDF-55 and 2 ounces of Crystal Quartz for enhanced performance.
KDF filters out Chlorine, Odors and Dirt particles. It is a copper-zinc alloy that filters by reduction-oxidation. As the water passes through, chlorine is converted to harmless chloride.
The water flow creates a slight electrical current that releases oxygen, so oxygen depleting bacteria cannot grow!
