Natrum Muriaticum (Nat Mur) Cell Salt #9
Nat Mur is the ninth of the twelve cell salts and is found in all bodily fluids and is important for the proper functioning of mucus membranes. Otherwise known as table salt, Nat Mur is the master regulator of movement of fluid into and out of every cell and is especially important because all of the other salts are dependent on it for their distribution as well. A deficiency in Nat Mur can cause either excessive dryness or excessive moisture in the body. Think of using this remedy for conditions such as dryness of body openings, production of thin clear mucus, swelling, edema, weakness of the eyes/vision and excess salivation. Nat Mur can also act as an antihistamine and is useful in the treatment of allergies and hay fever. This remedy can also be applied topically to insect bites.
A deficiency in Nat Mur is often accompanied by an increased craving for salt or salty foods and eating such foods most often does not satisfy the craving.
Cell salts are created using high dilution techniques similar to those used in making homeopathic remedies. This means that the particular mineral salt is diluted so many times that sometimes only the vibrational frequency or the energy of the original product remains. It is this specific frequency which can stimulate the body's healing response. At the same time cell salts are extremely safe, can treat a wide range of physical, mental and emotional problems and are very inexpensive. With proper matching of symptoms to remedies, cell salts are ideal for self-prescription and self-treatment. It makes a lot of sense to have the entire kit of 12 remedies at home for urgent health situations.
Cell salts most often come in tablet form. 3-4 tablets are to be placed under the tongue 3-4 times per day. Let the tablets fully dissolve and be absorbed. You may also add the tablets to a small amount of water and use an eye dropper to give the solution (children or pets) or you can add the tablets to a bottle of water and drink from this solution throughout the day. Specifically for children, it is best to provide 3 tablets 3-4 times per day and for infants 1 tablet 3-4 times per day is sufficient. It is very important to remember to take the medicine about 15-20 minutes away from food and drink.
In CHRONIC conditions, take 3-4 doses daily sometimes for several months.
In ACUTE cases, take a dose every 1-2 hours.
In SEVERE, PAINFUL conditions, take a dose every ten to fifteen minutes.
Always decrease frequency of dosing with continued improvement of symptoms.
Topical application of cell salts is also effective. You can dissolve the tablets in a bit of water and apply the resulting paste with a cotton swab to the affected area.
