Alen A375UV Ultra Air Purifier
|
|
|
 |
 |
The A375UV contains the features of the A350 unit but also includes 2 UV lamps, a titanium dioxide filter, dust/odor sensors, remote control and increased activated carbon for improved odor removal.
The A375UV Ultra delivers the most comprehensive air-cleaning performance—at a price that’s far below its premium counterpart. In addition to allergen control, the UV lamps with PCO (Photo-Catalytic Oxidation) technology can significantly reduce the levels of VOC’s in your home or office. VOC’s are the dangerous vapors that are emitted from common household items such as glue, wood laminate (formaldehyde), printers and certain aerosols.
To learn more about VOC’s and PCO:
A375UV Photo Catalytic Oxidation Technology
A large contributing factor to poor indoor air quality is the release of VOC’s. VOC’s are organic (carbon based) and are emitted as gases from a variety of products. Also called hydrocarbons, VOC’s vaporize due to sufficiently high vapor pressures.
The common indoor sources of VOC’s are paint, carpeting, copiers/printers, laminated furniture, wood preservatives, paint thinner, glues, permanent markers, cosmetics and certain aerosols and plastics. If there is not sufficient ventilation with the outdoor air and VOC’s are present, the indoor pollution levels can be up to 10 times higher than the outdoor air according to the EPA. And that includes urban areas.
The A375UV includes UV-PCO (UV Photo Catalytic Oxidation) technology to reduce the levels of VOC’s. The interaction of UV-C light and a permanent titanium dioxide (TiO2) grid serves as a photocatalyst to carry out hydrolysis (ie. to break water into hydrogen and oxygen). As TiO2 is exposed to UV light, it becomes increasingly hydrophilic; thus, it can be used reduce concentrations of airborne pollutants such as volatile organic compounds into harmless elements. As a safety feature, the UV-C lights and titanium dioxide grid are located on the inner most section of the A375UV to prevent the user from coming into contact with the rays of the UV lights.

- The odor sensor can also detect cosmetic and aerosol odors. As the odor level
increases, the odor indicator's bar moves from right to left. If the air purifier is

Great filter - By: R Smith

This is a great filter. We got it for our baby daughters room when she was having some problems. She's been good since. We put the filter in a room that we had been operating a Sharper Image model they pimp on TV commercials and the Alen immediately kicked on high and showed particulate on its indicator....even though the other filter had been on continuously (highest setting) and properly maintained.
The noise on auto...just leave it on setting 2 and it should be good from there. I have allergies that I get shots for (now) and have had no problem leaving it on this low of a setting.

Excellent product, works very well with tobacco smoke and cooking odors. Just set it to automatic, it is silent most of the time but will automatically adjust if it detects smoke or odor. Worth the money.
