Thanks for taking the time Ben! I know you are so busy... I agree. My husband and I have basically revamped our entire food pantry...over the last few years. We were always pretty healthy and exercised a lot, but still the bad stuff was lurking in our home without us knowing about it...and both of us are pretty educated about this stuff... And sure enough with a little strength training 2-3 times per week & only 15 minutes/day of cardio intervals (5 days per week) the weight is starting to come off for me. My husband and kids didn't need to lose any weight. We have become avid label-readers... We eliminated all straight sugar/high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, caffiene, enriched/bleached, hydrogenated & partially hydrogenated...and we have switched to about 75% organic fruits/veggies, canned tomato sauces & products (glen muir), whole wheat barilla pasta enriched with lentils & chickpeas, lean meats, a lot less red meat, organic brown rice, organic breads enriched with flax seeds, all natural cereals with more protein and no sugar, organic frozen veggies (cascadian farms), we make our own natural soups for lunch, organic natural snacks for our kids, etc... Our kids snack on raw almonds, organic stonefield farms yo-kids yogurt, organic apples/carrots/broccoli, cooked lima beans, organic whole grain crackers, low-sodium string cheese, natural peanut butter, walnuts and we all have 1 Brazil Nut per day..just like a vitamin for Selenium! And I make them play outside in our backyard for 1-2 hours every afternoon. Since we can't seem to give up coffee - we switched to DeCaf-Komodo Dragon which is the only Starbucks coffee washed & decaffiented with a purified water solution -vs- formadehyde or some other bad liquid I forget the name... It's amazing that things like Wheat Thins, Regular Tomato Sauce, Pasta, regular Dannon yogurt, canned soups, most regular cereal, most regular breads have all this enriched, hydrogenated, and sugar/corn syrup stuff in it! Very happy for you becoming an ND...good luck in your practice - I have a feeling you will be very successful. I think everyone should have a traditional MD & an ND for doctors...my husband and I do! Our entire family goes to an ND for all of our health needs...the MD is only good if you break your arm or need an apendectomy - they know zippo about all the stuff in your newsletters and health related issues... Thanks! Jill November 2006
