Question:
Does This Prenatal Multivitamin Give me All the Nutrients I Need?
Answer:
Q: I was excited to see the Pure Encapsulations Prenatal Nutrients on your site, as I really trust the products that you decide to carry and am also excited about the price. Does this give me all of the nutrients I need?
A: Iron glycinate is also known as 'gentle iron' and is highly absorbable - which is why it is gentle. Most iron is not that absorbable making it not gentle on the gut. The PreNatal has about 1/4th the RDA of calcium and magnesium in 2 capsules. I recommend that you take additional calcium and magnesium. A great way to get calcium is via dark leafy greens and chia seeds. We offer Chia seeds here. It is best to soak the Chia seeds in filtered water for a few hours or overnight. This allows the nutrients to become more bio-available.
We are phasing out all tablet form vitamins as we find them to not be as absorbable as the capsules. I am actually formulating our own line - takes time as it is very expensive to do it properly - given the amount of research I have to sift through and ensure that the nutrient interactions are synergistic.
