  • How does the Niplette Avent work?
  • Hi Melony - The Niplette by Avent works by a simple suction technique. There is a suction developed by a small syringe which makes it handy to control how much force outward you can handle at a time. The nipple in your breast is simply inverted and, over time, by applying the Niplette, your nipple will literally get everted (pulled out) and remain that way. I wish all women with inverted nipples knew about the Niplette or the Supple Cup so they would not undergo surgery.   • Can someone not pregnant use this item to correct inverted nipples? Does it stay after treatments?
  • Niplette is perfect to use for those not pregnant; in fact, it is best to not use Niplette while in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy as it may stimulate uterine contractions and birth.   • Hi, I am a male with inverted nipples from the day I was born, its a bit embarresing to take off my shirt in front of my friends and especially "girlfriends " i was wondering if the Niplette will help me get out of this embarresing problem ?

  • The Niplette should help any individual with inverted nipples whether they be male or female. Inverted nipples can effect anyone regardless of gender.

    on average of course...i know everyone is different and time lengths will vary.
  • Hello - Great question and you are right. It depends on how inverted the nipple is, how supple the skin is, how much suction is applied, how often it is worn and how large the nipple is. All that said, I imagine it will take about 1 month for the Niplette to evert the nipple long term. The Niplette will evert the nipple quite quickly but the nipple will invert back. Thus, make sure to apply the Niplette daily as indicated for long term results. Best, Dr Ben

  • When your breast sags, it is very difficult to use the Niplette because the cup on the niplette keeps popping out when I stand up. I can't wear it all day long because it will not stay in place. What can I do to secure the niplette cup to my breast?
  • Hi there, Niplette by Avent is designed to secure to the nipple even with sagging breasts. Check to see if there is a pinhole in the Niplette. Even the tiniest hole will not allow the Niplette to suction correctly. You can also try lightly dampening the outer rim of the suction cup for a better hold.   • Hi Dr. Ben! So I am 13 but i have inverted nipples and it has wrecked my self esteem for quite a while now. I want to use the niplette because I am too embarrassed to go to the doctor to ask about it. I was wondering if it was safe for a youth like me to use the niplette? why and why not?
  • Hello - Please talk with your parents about using the Niplette and why you want to use it. You should also have your mother check and you both can have a talk. Given that you are under 18, it is the law that you must talk with your parents about these things. You can tell your mother that the Niplette is safe for all ages to use. The only time the Niplette is not safe to use is during pregnancy - especially the last trimester. Best, Dr Ben

  • I read somewhere that there is a difference between inverted and a "retracted" nipple. A retracted is usually inverted, but pops out when it is cold or one is stimulated, say sexually. Is it still safe for someone with retracted nipples to use the Avent Niplette, since the nipples aren't fully inverted?
  • Hello - The Avent Niplette will simply evert the nipple - if retracted or inverted. It is not a dangerous device at all. It is safe to use for retracted nipples. Thank you for your question - it's a good one.

  • Hi I was wondering how well this product works with severly inverted nipples. I have had this problem my entire life, well as long as I can remember anyway. I am 26 mother of 2. I did breastfeed but i think it would have been a lot eaiser if my nipples were not inverted. My husband is fine with it, or so he says. I really cannot afford surgery. I'm so embarassed by this. Also it seems that since i breastfed and went down in cup size that its worse? Do you think this product would help?

  • I started wearing the niplette a few days ago and i noticed that both nipples started to have little tears all around where i suctioned them even a little bit of fluid coming out. Is this normal? Im very concerned.
  • Hello - I have never heard of this happening before with the Niplette. I highly recommend you speak with your physician and discontinue use. You may simply have more intensely inverted nipples but having your doctor evaluate this is a good idea.
