Severe Depression and MTHFR Link? - Dr Ben Consult
History: Severe Suicidal Tendencies/Depression/PMDD/Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue/Chemical Environmental Sensitivities/Acne/Cant handle Stress/Brain Fog/Loss of focus, loss of will to live. I am fully disabled. Went from being a person with a promising future to living a life of hell. My mom and a few other family members have depression, anxiety, mood swings, cant handle stress. My uncle has schizophrenia. All on my moms side. My mom also is a goraphobic which I feel I am becoming. I went from being a socialite to a recluse.
Diagnosed at 26 with fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue. I tried electric shock therapy for suicidal depression 6 rounds. Countless psychotrophic meds/ bio identical hormone progesterone/ saw countless neurologists, chiropractors, endocrinologist, therapist, acupuncturist, naturalpaths, dermatologists. Vitamin cocktail therapy which included (energy shots and intravenous, Ribose, Nadh, sodium bi carbonate, lidocaine. Vitamin B’s Vitamin C, gluthathimine and IGG shots.) Bio feed back, infectious disease,. I tried tons and tons of detoxes, diets, homeopaths, supplements, minerals, herbs, anti virals, anti biotics
Dr Ben's Thoughts: Begin HomocysteX with 1/2 capsule for a few days and evaluate how you feel. If improvement and no side effects, increase to 1 capsule each day. If no side effects, increase to 1.5 capsules a day. Take a maximum of 2 capsules a day until directed otherwise by your physician.
Highly recommended to test for MHTFR mutation given family history. Possible A1298C homozygous mutation based on history.
Consider Methylation Profile as well. This way you can understand where the exact blockages are in your methylation and supplement accordingly.
Ensure you eat some form of protein every couple hours to balance blood sugar and energy.
Consider taking 2 capsules of Optimal Fish Oil capsules twice daily or Optimal Krill Oil.
Consider Optimal Multivitamin: 3 capsules in the AM with breakfast and 3 capsules at lunch. Then take the final 2 capsules at 3 PM with a snack.
If you have digestive issues or not taking an effective probiotic, consider ProBiota 12 and take 1-2 capsules after dinner for one to two months and then reduce to 1 capsule after dinner on an on-going basis.
Limit or stop completely the intake of wheat and dairy products.
