Gastritis Follow Up - Dr Ben Consult

Gastritis is caused by stress, helicobacter pylori and foods - most commonly.

In order to effectively eradicate gastritis, the area has to be healed, stress reduced and eliminate drinks and foods that irritate.

Foods which commonly irritate gastritis:

  • Wheat
  • Spices
  • Chocolate
  • Caffeine
  • Soda
  • Sugars
  • Carbohydrates (energy bars especially)
  • Processed foods
  • Alcohol

Lifestyle which irritates gastritis:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Fast-paced eating on the go
  • Lack of sleep
  • Worry

Do medications help heal gastritis?

No. I know zero medications which actually help heal gastritis.

The only medications which may indirectly help heal gastritis are triple antibiotic therapy if helicobacter pylori is present.

How to heal the gastritis?

  • Try Manuka Honey to heal the 'ulcer' in the stomach and take routinely throughout the day between meals. Suck on the spoonful slowly.
  • Try ProBiota 12 Powder to support the growth of beneficial bacteria to help crowd out harmful yeasts and bacteria.
  • Reduce stress by taking Ashwagandha in the AM and PM - 2 capsules and also Magnesium Plus - 1 capsule twice a day. Both of these support the mind.
  • Pantothenic acid may be beneficial as well if one is fatigued from stress and worry. Try taking 2 capsules of Pantothenic acid in the AM and 1 capsule in the afternoon around 2 PM.
  • Chew your food very well and limit the amount of beverage intake while eating
  • Taking 3 capsules of Saccharomyces Boulardii is helpful for those with gastritis related to bacterial overgrowth.
  • Avoid antacids if possible
  • Mix a preparation of Slippery Elm Bark, Marshmallow Root and 5 grams of L-Glutamine Powder in a pint of filtered water. Soak overnight and then drink all throughout the next day - small sips. You can get Slippery Elm Bark and Marshmallow Root from Mountain Rose Herbs - online store - excellent one!
  • Try ZCG 500 between meals to help heal the area and support the body's ability to eradicate helicobacter pylori.
  • Avoid the offending foods and drinks

Almost all of these supplement recommendations are required only for a few months time. Consider one month of use for every year of gastritis. In many cases, it will be faster than that but that is a general guideline.

I do not recommend the use of any of these long term except Ashwagandha and L-Glutamine Powder may be used intermittently to maintain a healthy stomach and intestinal lining.

For on the go easy meals, and keeping your blood sugar stable so stress is reduced, I recommend the use of PaleoMeal DF Protein Powder
