Chronic Neck Pain Treatment Suggestions
Chronic Neck Pain may be significantly reduced by a multi-faceted approach.
Treatment Suggestions to help reduce chronic neck pain:
- Alexander Technique
- Massage
- Acupuncture
- Nutrient Therapy
- Moor Mud Baths / Hydrotherapy
- Spinal Manipulation
- Decompression Therapy
- Castor Oil Packs
- Prolotherapy
- Heavy metal chelation
- Detoxification
- Sauna Therapy
Physical Exercises to help reduce chronic neck pain:
- Many people hold their head too far forward so their chin is well over their feet. Slide your chin back so it is just above the edge of your chest. To train your neck to do this, slide your chin backwords on an even plane and hold it there for 10 seconds. Release. Repeat. This is especially effective to do while driving. Just slide your chin backwards on an even plane until the back of your head presses into the headrest of your seat. Hold. Release. Repeat.
- Locate an Alexander Technique Therapist and work with them to improve your body mechanics.
- Stretch the tight muscles in your neck
- Strengthen the weak muscles in your neck.
- Locate a good physical therapist to help you do the stretching and strengthening.
- Massage is excellent.
- Consider using the NeckPro to help stretch your neck and reduce compression of the cervical discs. Use as directed by your physician.
- Consider wearing the Releaf Neck Rest to reduce weight of your head on your neck while using the computer, driving, flying or studying. There are two sizes of the Releaf Neck Rest so choose accordingly. I have linked the large Releaf Neck Rest here.
Lifestyle Changes to help reduce chronic neck pain:
- Reduce coffee intake as coffee depletes nutrients. Instead take adrenal support nutrients. Pantothenic acid is excellent for adrenal support. Consider taking 2 capsules of Pantothenic Acid twice a day - AM and afternoon. Do not take past 3 pm in the afternoon as it may keep you awake.
- Eat every two hours to maintain healthy blood sugar levels to avoid sugar and coffee binging. Make sure you have protein with each meal.
- Drink plenty of filtered water with electrolytes. Dry muscles without electrolytes causes tight muscles. Prevent this with proper hydration and electrolytes.
- Find an appropriate pillow to use so your neck doesn't get kinked. Ask your physical therapist for the best one to use.
- Limit heavy impact running or activities which compress your neck downward.
- Mix Castor Oil, Emu Oil, Copaiba Oil and Alpenol along with 2 tablespoons of dissolved Epsom salt in a bottle. Shake well.
- If you are experiencing full body tightness, there is nothing better than a full Moor Mud bath. Make sure you get your neck fully immersed in the water. Add about 2 pounds of Epsom salt to the bath. You can get Epsom salt inexpensively from your local horse feed store typically or from SaltWorks.
Nutrient Recommendations to help reduce chronic neck pain:
- As discussed, electrolytes are key especially if you sweat a lot or you find yourself urinating often right after you drink water.
- D-Ribose is very important for those experiencing full body muscle tightness after workouts or in general. D-Ribose is very effective when taken at 5 grams twice to three times daily in a glass of water. Ideally, take a scoop before exercise and a scoop after. If not exercising, simply spread it throughout the day.
- ArthroGenX is a combination of effective joint nutrition along with pain reduction. Consider taking 2 capsules three times a day initially and then work down to 2 capsules twice a day.
- Optimal Fish Oil contains a lot of EPA and DHA per teaspoon. EPA and DHA has shown to reduce pain and inflammation. Consider taking 1 teaspoon with a meal twice a day. If you prefer capsules or find yourself burping after taking fish oil, then try using Optimal Fish Oil capsules as they contain a fat-digesting enzyme which reduces burping and increases absorption. The Optimal Fish Oil capsules are more potent than the Optimal Fish Oil as well.
These suggestions should help reduce chronic neck pain for many people.
