Quick Overview

Cal Mag Butyrate by BodyBio provides a short chain fatty acid that encourages the formation of essential friendly bacteria in the colon. Butyric acid is the number one nutrient used by the coloncytes (colon cells). When the colon is injured, coloncytes require high amounts of butyric acid in order to repair themselves. Without butyric acid, the coloncytes cannot repair and digestive complaints will continue to be a problem.

Probiotics naturally make butyric acid; however, many individuals suffering from ulcerative colitis, have low levels of beneficial bacteria. Taking Cal Mag Butyrate along with a potent probiotic is recommended for improved healing long term. Dr Ben recommends ProBiota 12 Powder which you can see below.

About Cal Mag Butyrate 100 capsules - BodyBio

Butyrate is a short chain fatty acid that is a potent detoxifier of ammonia and neurotoxins. Butyrate also encourages the formation of friendly bacteria in the gut.

What exactly is Butyrate?

Butyrate is a short chain fatty acid (SCFA) that has been combined with calcium & magnesium. It is made in the lower colon by bacteria and taken up by the colonocytes, the cells that line the colon. It then becomes an important food for those cells. Lacking good bacteria in our colon, such as when we take antibiotics, can lead to an insufficient supply of butyrate.

What is Butyrate used for?

Butyrate scrubs & cleans the liver, the gall bladder and the biliary tree. It also cleans the bowel, controls ammonia, removes ‘renegade’ fats (the very long ones that accumulate with age) and lowers the expression of inflammatory immune markers called cytokines.

What is the recommended dosage of Calcium Magnesium Butyrate?

Approximately 2-3 caps daily, unless otherwise suggested by a HCP.

How long will 1 bottle of Cal-Mag Butyrate last?

It depends on how many you take daily - they are sold in 100 or 250 count bottles.

Can Cal-Mag Butyrate be taken on an empty stomach?

We have never heard of any problems taking Butyrate on an empty stomach.

What are the ingredients in Calcium Magnesium Butyrate?

Butyric Acid, Calcium Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Diglycerides

Are there any side effects from taking Cal-Mag Butyrate?

None to our knowledge.

    • Hi, is this safe for chronic gastritis and ulcerative colitis?

      thanks ~
    • Cal/Mag Butyrate is FANTASTIC to take if you have ulcerative colitis. It is also safe for Gastritis - not an issue. I highly recommend you take ProBiota 12 Powder as well - consider taking 1/2 teaspoon for 1 week and then 1 teaspoon for one month. After one month, you should be much better. http://www.healthegoods.com/pro-biota-12-powder-maximum-support-200-billion-cfus-twelve-species-60-grams-seeking-health.html I also highly recommend taking 4 capsules of Saccharomyces Boulardii with breakfast and 4 capsules in the evening after dinner. http://www.healthegoods.com/saccharomyces-boulardii-microbial-balance-support-60-vegetarian-capsules-seeking-health.html Make sure to listen to this podcast on Chronic Gastritis and get rid of it: http://www.healthegoods.com/natural-health-podcasts/gastritis-treatment-suggestions-causes-of-gastritis-explained.html In health, Dr Ben

    • Also, can I use this as an enema instead of taking orally? I found online article that Butyric Acid is more effective if done as enema for Ulcerative Colotis & Crohn's Disease. Thank you.
    • I am not sure if you mean to say 'Gastritis safe?' If you do, Cal/Mag Butyrate is just fine to take if you have gastritis. I highly recommend taking the Cal/Mag Butyrate, ProBiota 12 Powder and Intestinal Repair Complex internally for both Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's. Take Bio-Inflammatory Powder is also highly recommended. As I answered somewhere else about how to do a retention enema for Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's: Enemas can definitely help heal the ascending colon. What I recommend doing is having a bowel movement first and then performing the enema in this manner: 1) Fill the enema bucket with 1 quart of filtered water and a pinch of salt or electrolytes: http://www.healthegoods.com/electrolyte-concentrate-20-fl-ounces-bottle-bodybio.html 2) Take a regular enema and flush out as much as you can. 3) Refill the enema bucket with 2 cups of filtered water, a capful of Electrolyte Concentrate, open and empty a couple capsules of Cal/Mag Butyrate, 1 teaspoon of ProBiota 12 Powder and 2 teaspoons of Intestinal Repair Complex and open and empty a capsule of Curcumin 97. Mix well. You can find these all at HealthE Goods by searching their names. 4) Insert the 2 cups of fluid into your rectum while laying on your left side or on all fours - whatever is most comfortable for you. 5) Once the 2 cups of fluid is in your rectum, do the yoga Shoulder stand. You may feel the 2 cups of fluid reach the transverse colon. 6) Come down and out of the Shoulder stand while bringing your legs and torso down onto your right side. Then lay on your right side for some time - as long as you can. If you can lay on a slight incline so the fluid stays down in the ascending colon, this is ideal. 7) The fluid will be hard to get out as it will be all the way in your ascending colon but that is ok. The point is to get the contents there and allow them to heal the area. 8) Do this daily until you feel very well. Do not exceed 2 weeks of doing this daily. If you want to do longer than two weeks, make sure you take a few days rest between. Avoid Wheat, Dairy and processed foods. Make sure to take ProBiota 12 Powder (1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon) nightly after dinner for one month and then reduce to 1/8th teaspoon after that. Also be sure to take Cal/Mag Butyrate internally as well (3 capsules before breakfast and 3 before bed). In health, Dr Ben
